Water, water everywhere. Stockholm is 14 islands (in the midst of a 30,000 island archipelago). Everywhere you look, you run into a beautiful skyline set against the water. We saw the city from a few unique vantage points. The first being the most unique architecture tour I’ve ever taken! We walked the rooftop of the old Parliament Building in Stockholm with nothing but a cabled harness (and sometimes a railing). That little metal cable on the right of the walkway is the only thing that holds you if you fall off the walkway. It was incredibly fun and the views of the Stockholm skyline were fantastic!! (If you go to Stockholm, be sure to check out the Upplev Mer tour!) We also took a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) tour of the archipelago. It was incredible, but with the tour often going 65MPG through the water, I didn’t break out the camera.
We stayed in the beautiful Grand Hotel (and had dinner in the Hall of Mirrors, where the first Nobel Prizes were awarded). The views around the hotel were spectacular, and I took a few panoramas from the Skeppsholmsbron bridge. We were treated to beautiful scenery everywhere we walked, with flowers in bloom across the city. We visited the Drottningholm Summer Palace. And then finished off the trip with a visit to the Vasa Museum, where we dressed up as pirates for cocktails and dinner. What an incredible week!
