I’ve planning to shoot more Saint Paul skyine photos recently. So Friday morning (after getting to sleep after midnight), got up at 4am and started getting ready to head out for the shot (painful, but you do what you need to do sometimes). I was heading out the door when I got a call from my contact that building security wasn’t super psyched about me heading up to the roof. Bummer, but quickly came up with a “plan B” to shoot the State Capitol (as enticing as going back to bed sounded, I already had another photographer friend planning to meet me, so I figured I was on the hook). It worked out pretty well, and we got breakfast at Mickey’s Diner to boot.
The second shot is the Capitol with the Cathedral of St Paul in the distant background. I’ve always thought these two iconic buildings share some stylistic elements and was happy to find this angle that showed the two of them together. The second shoot is looking right up the front stairs, with the third being a closeup shot of the “Progress of the State” (the four golden horses , or quadriga).

Sarah - SWEET! A man after my own heart. Very nice shots of my favorite place to roam and photograph.
