Jenn and Michael have been friends of mine in Minneapolis for a long time, so I was of course ecstatic when they asked me to come photograph their wedding in Jamaica! It was a fun 3 day affair, including lots of great time at the beach, a huge bonfire on the ocean, a beautiful wedding on the beach, dancing in the rain…. and a surprise trash the dress shoot! After shooting the reception, my girlfriend (who was assisting and second shooting) and I dropped off the gear to relax in the pool after a very hot day of shooting. When we got to the pool, we found the whole wedding party had jumped in, including the bride in her dress!
Technical details: The sun can (obviously) be pretty intense in Jamaica, so we shot with an off-camera flash for the bridal portraits to really capture the intensity and colors of the sky and sunset. The dancing and pool shots were lit by video light (we wrapped the video light tightly in a plastic bag for the trash the dress shots to make sure it stayed completely dry).
