I love cycling, and I love photography. This shot was inevitable…
I had some interesting life lessons on this shoot. Minnesotans are REALLY nice (tons of people, who thought I was fixing a flat, slowed down to offer to help me). And it turns out that it isn’t super easy to mount an SLR and flash off the front wheel of your bike and ride at 15+ MPH. Ok, no surprises there. But what did surprise me was that most people pretty much ignored the crazy guy riding around with a camera strapped to his bike with a flash going off every 3 seconds. Not that I was hoping to be the center of attention at that particular moment…
Strobist: Manual shutter and aperture set to underexpose ambient by about 1 stop, diffuser dome on SB-800 with rear curtain sync.

snapshutter - Now that’s a cool shot! And an engineering accomplishment to boot.
Bob Crowe - This is bloody fabulous. You win the Joe McNally award for the day. A lot of work to go to but what a great result.
Antjas - This is way too cool. It should come with a disclaimer. “Professionals used. Do not try this at home!”
Bibi - Wow, this is good, and invites imitation…I have a bike…but not a flash, other than the dinky one on my Nikon D50…
