Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you have backups?

Yes.  I shoot every wedding with two cameras.  This guarantees that if a camera fails that I will continue shooting the day.  Additionally, it lets me set up two different lenses so that I can keep up with all the action on your big day.  After shooting the wedding, images are downloaded to my computer, where images are automatically backed up to an external hard drive.  I have multiple hard drives and keep one live on the computer, one in a fire safe, and one off site so that images are protected.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I have a business owner’s policy with liability insurance.

What camera gear do you use?

I mostly shoot on a Nikon D800 and D700 with a variety of professional lenses to create the highest quality images.  I use video light and flash as needed (and as allowed, as some venues request no flash) with external battery packs so that I can keep up with the action in whatever light conditions we might encounter.

Can I have the digital files?

Yes if your contract includes them.  Files are most often provided as JPG images on a custom DVD (the surface of which is printed with an image from the day).  When digital files are purchased, a release included for personal use.  These images are intended for sharing images electronically and for archiving.  I recommend backing up DVD’s immediately, as optical media can be scratched, lost, and over a period of years will eventually degrade.  All images are copyrighted by the photographer and commercial use (advertising, licensing, etc) is strictly forbidden without express written consent of the photographer.

When can I expect to see the images?

It depends upon my workload, but I typically have images ready for review by my clients within a couple weeks.  Once I have reviewed images and selected prints, it typically takes about 1-3 weeks to receive prints, and about 1 month to create a wedding album.  While I strive to provide my clients with their images quickly, quality is never compromised and occasionally it may take longer.

Can you help me select prints?

Yes.  I have printed samples of most of the products I offer and can additionally create a preview of what a printed image or collection of images will look like in your home.  I do this by using a photograph of the wall and then placing images (to scale) on the image to give you a very good visual of what your photos will look like on your wall.  This is particularly helpful in selecting an appropriate size for the space in which the image will be displayed.
