I’ve known Kristi and Jeff for years. Their wedding was special on so many levels, for me it was incredible to get to share the day with so many friends. The Flowers were done by our friend Dana (of Posy & Pip Flowers), another friend did the fireworks, most of the guests were good friends, and an incredible amount of personal energy was put into setting up the wedding at Kristi’s parents home (like the pergola they built for the wedding). There were also some very fun opportunities: Kristi’s grandfather is a pilot and took my assistant, Libby, up for a brief flyover to get a shot of the whole wedding site. And then of course there was Burnsie, who even got his own tux (as every canine ringbearer should).

Technical notes:
- For the shot of Jeff and Kristi on the dock, I had my assistant hold an off-camera flash with radio trigger (so that I could keep the sky properly exposed while highlighting the couple).
- The rings on top of a very shiny black piano using a macro lens and available window light.
- Several indoor / reception shots were taken with 1/2CTO gel over flash bounced off the walls.
- I lit the bride and groom for the fireworks shot by bouncing my flash into a reflector held just to my side by my assistant (essentially creating a softbox for some softer light). The air was extremely humid (fog was starting to roll in), so I chose to work with faster shutter times to minimize haze in the image.
