Sanctuary

After shooting landscape images for a while, it can be easy to fall into a rut where all you look for is sunrises and sunsets.  Many of my favorite images come from other times of the day, sometimes even the middle of the day.

I’d already captured a stunning sunrise this particular morning, but wanted to keep shooting.  The clouds had a deep range, and the sun was present but hidden.  That made for a great opportunity to do some long exposure images.  I threw a neutral density filter on my camera, quickly set the exposure using my ISO6400 trick, and then exposed for 100 seconds at f/18 to capture this image.
