My friend Lorenzo and I headed out early to get a shot of the morning sky by this amazing tree in Roys Bay in Lake Wanaka. For a while, it looked like the clouds on the Eastern horizon were going to prevent us from seeing any color, and then suddenly the sky fired up with these beautiful fiery pink and orange colors. Then, about 10 minutes after all the best color of the morning, this trio of photographers showed up. One of them was clearly the alpha of the group and seemed a bit of a know-it-all… but he hadn’t even figure out that he’d missed the most beautiful sky by showing up just a few minutes late. It’s so painful to get up early sometimes, but often so worth it.
